Red Cross Blood Drive

Red Cross Blood Drive

Give the gift of live. Your donation will make a difference…each unit saves three lives!

The next Red Cross blood drive of Shepherd of the Hills will be conducted at the Mission Viejo campus on Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 12:00-8:15 pm.

Walk-ins are welcome. If you wish to make an appointment by registering online, go to, click on Make a Blood Donation Appointment in the blue box, enter sponsor code “shepherdhills”, and follow the instructions. Also, you can contact Avis French at the Mission Viejo campus at contact Mary Beth McGowan at the Rancho Santa Margarita campus at We will provide child care from 3:00-5:00 pm. If you require child care during your appointment, be sure to let Avis French know when you schedule your appointment.

Also, at this drive the ALYX system will be available. With a smaller needle than the one used for whole blood collection and with fluid replacement, you may find this process more comfortable. The new ALYX System specifically collects red blood cells and helps increase the supply of this critically needed blood component. If you qualify to donate with the ALYX System, you can safely and comfortably provide two units of red blood cells with one donation Ð and touch more lives. To qualify as a donor on the ALYX System, males must be at least 5′ 1″ and weigh at least 130 pounds, and women must be at least 5′ 5″ and weigh at least 150 pounds. Note that this process takes 20-30 minutes longer than the usual process.
