What better way to connect with each other than to spend an hour or two, walking side by side along the many trails in south O.C.
The Saturday hikes will include trails of varying difficulty and locations, from the paved paths of Mission Viejo to the rugged hills of Laguna. Most hikes will begin at 9 am. Look for details of each week’s hike on here or the church Facebook page. You can also join the In Motion Hiking group on My Shepherd to receive weekly e-mail reminders and even help us pick the next trail. Contact Doug Nason ([email protected]) for more details.
April 8: Hidden Parks Hike
Lenten Hike #6: Rain Change!
“Hidden Parks” Hike
Time: Saturday, April 8, 9 am
Trailhead: Cherry Park, Lake Forest
Trail type: paved bike/walk path (Aliso Trail)
Dogs? Yes
Strollers? Yes
Rain? Maybe…
Length: about 3 miles round trip
OK, so it’s supposed to rain on Saturday, but it’s unclear when and how much we might get. Our original plan was to hike Holy Jim Falls, but the idea of driving out on that dirt (or mud) road in the rain is a bit scary! It is also MUCH more likely to rain in the mountains, too.
So assuming it doesn’t rain (or just barely rains) at 9 am, we’ll start at Cherry Park in Lake Forest, a few blocks south of Trabuco and east of El Toro. We’ll stroll along the Aliso Trail north (uphill) about 1.4 miles to the tiny and adorable Sundowner’s Park. Then we’ll turn around and head back to the cars. Doug will be there next to Cherry Park, rain or shine, and whomever is brave enough, we’ll set off around 9:10 am. Hope to see you there. We’ll reschedule Holy Jim for late April.
Hikes are subject to change/cancellation due to weather and trail closures. We’ll have any last-minute details and photos at the Shepherd Facebook page . If you have questions about any of the hikes contact Doug Nason at [email protected].
