This Lent, take something on!
Saturday, March 24 • Bell Ridge Trail (changed from Holy Jim Trail) • 9:00 a.m.
Isaiah 57.20:
But the wicked are like the tossing sea
that cannot keep still;
its waters toss up mire and mud.
Well, I don’t know about “the tossing sea” so much, but the road to Holy Jim Trail is definitely “mired with mud.” So we are moving our hike Saturday to the Bell Ridge Trail that starts at the corner of Plano Trabuco and Dove Canyon near Santa Margarita Catholic H.S. Good news: it begins and ends with waterfalls!
The trail begins with a short but steep ascent up to the top of the ridgeline that separates Coto de Caza from Dove Canyon. There are a few more hills – not quite as steep – as we meander up and down the crest. We’ll turn around near the end of Dove Canyon and head back. Total miles is just under 4 with about 300 ft of elevation change. Dogs are welcome, and jogging strollers should have no problem negotiating the smooth path. No water or bathrooms anywhere on the trail.
Parking: turn left onto Dove Canyon and park along the street. We’ll meet at the waterfalls. Hope to see you there!
All hikes subject to cancellation due to weather and trail closures. Contact Doug Nason at dnason@sothumc.org for more information.
